Every year, a variety of publications reach out to their readers asking them what are the best neighbourhoods and release their list of the top ones in Edmonton. For 2015, here are the top ten choices within the area according to Avenue Magazine.
Central Edmonton Real Estate
Strathcona - There is no doubt this character neighbourhood consistently makes makes the top list in Edmonton. Over 600 businesses support the area and is home to many of the city's festivals. In the summer you can find restaurants and patios along the famous Whyte Ave. In the colder months, you can easily find a great coffee shop and plenty of book stores.
Glenora- When you live in Edmonton and you talk about Glenora people instantly think old money, established neighbourhood. True that it was established as one of Edmonton's most prestigious places to call home and continues to be so. More infill development is bringing a new feeling to the neighbourhood, which combines that mature character with the newer modern living space. Great access to downtown, the river valley and overall a great community to be a part of is why Glenora continues to make the top ten.
Oliver - Right in the heart of downtown Edmonton is the most heavily populated neighbourhood. And the action is 360 degrees surrounding the area. A new hockey arena for the Edmonton Oilers, the new brewery district, 124 st and everything else makes Oliver a sought after place to live in the city.
Westmount - Thanks to the revitalization of 124 st over the last 10 years Westmount is getting more and more attention every year. The neighbourhood dates back to the early 1900's so no wonder it has mature tree's, walkable streets and that centermost charm. Being on the west end of the city with great access to all amenities means you don't have to travel far and makes it so desirable to call home.
Highlands- Perched on top the banks of the North Saskatchewan River, Highlands keeps getting the nod for 10 ten neighbourhoods in Edmonton year after year. It is a community where everyone seems to know each other and very family friendly. Walking distance in the area is The Highlands semi private golf course, as well as countless walking trails along the river and off leash dog parks. Most of the original homes were built pre WW1 and the neighbourhood has always been an exceptional place to call home.
